Still Out Here

So, it's been a moment since I last posted. Not that I think you have been holding your breath!
Since I last wrote here, we have simply been swept up even more by everyday life. Balancing two kids, the shop, our house, our relationship, and small amounts of time for ourselves has been a challenge. I feel comforted knowing that we are, by no means, the only ones experiencing these challenges. I also feel extremely lucky that we have all that we have.

Life at One More Cup has been flying by. We just celebrated our two-year birthday at the end of February! Thank you to everyone for helping us make it this far - customers and staff. We appreciate all of the love and support!

Looking ahead, the forecast for One More Cup is quite sunny. There is only one storm cloud that we see for now, but that is only to be expected. So, I'll get the not-so-great news out of the way first. We have been informed that our coffee supplier will be raising their prices very shortly. This is the second price increase we have experienced from them in six months. That seems outrageous, but given the state of coffee in the world I don't blame them. Coffee prices have been skyrocketing globally. This is due to many factors - lots of bad weather conditions for coffee growing, incredible demand that is outpacing supplies, commodity speculation, and more.

So, what does this mean for us? We weighed our options, and unfortunately absorbing the increases with no action is not one of the options. We wish we were large enough to do that, but we are not. We also really don't want to raise our coffee prices at the moment. So, that has led us to where we are. We have decided to eliminate the frequent drink card program. We will continue to stamp cards, and redeem them, through the month of April. After that, we intend to offer up deals through our facebook and twitter accounts more frequently (a few times a month.) Thank you for your support and understanding in this issue.

Now...that is our bad news. What is the sunshine?

More drink options - pour overs, new specialty drinks popping up, localbucha (kombucha) from KC's GetReal Food Company

Working with Lindsay over at Fresher Than Fresh on offering her all-natural, and extremely delicious, ice pops!

Possible extension of Sunday hours. We are very likely moving to a full day on Sundays in the next month or two.

Thinking of creative promotions, events, etc. that we can do. I love planning stuff, and now that Miss Hazel is approaching age one, and we are more used to our juggling act, I have a bit more time to focus on those things...which I love!

And...who knows what else. We will see what pops up through the year. What are your ideas?

Thank you all again for coming in, enjoying the shop, and sharing your stories with us!

  2. Thanks! :) We have looked into Groupon or similar deals, and they really end up being a raw deal for the company involved, especially if someone is as small as us. We can't really afford to offer our product at half price, plus pay a small percentage of the money made to the coupon company, on the hopes that it may bring in a few more customers. We are going to try to think up creative, fun deals though!!
